Did you know that in 2020, the State College area was named a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists – an upgrade from our Bronze designation in 2016? See the criteria

Making the list – and climbing it – is not a simple achievement; while more than 1,900 communities have applied for BFC certification, there are only 501 communities nationwide who have made the cut!

And for State College, it’s only getting better. Last year, the Borough received $1.1 million to invest in the expansion of our current bike path system.

Between the Spin e-bike share program, our two great local bike shops, bike repair stations on campus and across the Borough, and classes and rides offered locally, our reputation as a bike friendly community continues to get even friendlier.

Laura Mustio made her way to State College via Pittsburgh in 2015. Her writing celebrates our area’s hidden gems, treasured locals, and not-to-be-missed experiences.
