Centre County has its own film festival!
Now in its fifth year and spearheaded by award-winning filmmaker, producer, director, – and local! – Pearl Gluck, the Centre Film Festival has expanded into a week-long event and will screen more than 100 films, both in-person and online.
The Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg (opened in 1917 and on the National Register of Historic Places) and one of downtown State College’s cultural hubs, The State Theatre, will be the backdrop for the festival, which will feature free tickets for students, a kid-friendly block of shorts, an award for the best film made entirely in Pennsylvania, an Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Month track, and a high school Masterclass to engage the next generation of filmmakers.
Choosing which festival will premiere a film is a selective and intentional process and this year, Centre Film is honored to be the chosen festival for more than 50 premieres, an indicator of its growing impact and credibility.
There’s no wrong way to enjoy the Festival, so pick one film – or many! – and make the experience your own!
