State College Lately – May 2024

A quick list of things we’re excitedly telling our friends about

If you’re thinking of making the move to State College, you probably want to stay in the loop about interesting things going on in the area. Here are a few noteworthy things we’ve been talking about lately!

Rhoneymeade Fest is a music and arts festival with a vibe like no other. (Reading books in the grass and meandering walks through the sculpture garden encouraged!)

Here’s what’s been going on!

The 4th annual Rhoneymeade Fest is coming!

If laying on a blanket under the trees at picturesque Rhoneymeade Arboretum while listening to genre-spanning performances by local, national, and international musical artists sounds like a good time, don’t miss out on this year’s Fest! It’s coming soon, May 30-June 2 and tickets are still on sale.

This welcoming, artist-run festival grows in size and reputation every year and is truly one of the most unique music and visual art offerings in our area. (Oh, and P.S.: Friday’s programming in Downtown State College is all FREE! Learn more here and hope to see you there!)

A record-breaking Centre Gives!

Centre Gives, Centre Foundation’s 36-hour giving event raised just shy of $2.5 million during this year’s May event! The annual event, now in its thirteenth year, has raised more than $19 million to date and funds are used to support the arts, animals, education, the environment, human services, and more throughout Centre County.

Hundreds of varieties of PA plants!

Earlier this month, Millbrook Marsh Nature Center once again hosted the Central Pennsylvania Native Plant Festival and Sale. This year’s sale featured more than 350 varieties of native plants, local Master Gardeners and experts to offer planting advice, and food vendors and music for another much-anticipated day full of gardening goodness.

And town is, once again, for the townies!

Graduation and move out weekend have come and gone, the bar crawl group to sidewalk ratio has plummeted, and the downshift into the peaceful, spacious State College summertime that we all look forward to has arrived. (See you downtown soon, where the parking is plentiful and the lines are non-existent?!)
